Prof. em. Dr. Walther Burchard of the University of Freiburg, Germany, and the last living founder of the Polymer Networks Group (PNG) back in the 1970s, passed away peacefully last month, on the 22nd May 2024, in Munich. He has made many contributions to the field of polymer science in general, but in particular to that of polymer networks and hyperbranched polymers with the extensive use of scattering techniques. Walther will be missed by our PNG community. He is survived by his two daughters Almut and Angela. The funeral service will be held on the 19th July 2024 in Munich.
